Early in 2015 The Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest in partnership with The Salvation Army St. John’s Temple, sent a forty foot shipping container to Tshelanyemba Hospital filled with hospital, community and school supplies.

A Team of 8 travelled to Zimbabwe in September 2015 to distribute the supplies and complete number of tasks. Highlights included:

  • Provided life-saving medical supplies and equipment
  • Nurses on the team instructed on the usage of the supplies
  • Lecture on wound care and leg edema to staff nurses and students
  • Installed operating room lights and table donated by the Rotary Club of Saint Pierre
  • To assist in the prevention of infectious diseases, 100 mattresses, blankets and pillows were purchased locally for the hospital.

  • Distributed community supplies to the hospital and nearby villages, including clothing, footwear, bicycles, water buckets, and household goods
  • Repaired a roof that was damaged in a storm
  • Distributed tools and supplies to a carpentry school and maintenance shop
  • Presented Bibles, tambourines and uniforms to the local church
