Youth Band, Junior Band & Beginners

Every Thursday evening from Labour Day to Mother’s Day 70 or more young musicians in the Youth Band (8:15-9:15), Junior Band and Beginners (7:00- 7:30) come to St. John's Temple to be taught brass and percussion music by a goup of dedicated volunteers .

Besides playing on certain Sundays at the corps, the Youth Band visits Senior’s home, plays at the Christmas kettles and travels to other corps for concerts, outreach and services.  In recent years the band has visited Southern Ontarioas well as Clarenville, Bonavista and Bay Roberts to minister.

There has  been a Young People's band  at St. John's Temple since the early 1900's  The youth banding program  (open to ages 7 - 30) was first begun in the late 1970's.  There was a time in the late 1980's and early 90's when there was very little YP banding.   In the early 1990's the program was restarted and has now grown to nearly 70 kids!  Many of the musicians in the church's Senior Band have been a part of the youth banding program and many current junior band and youth band leaders have come up through this program.
